Chronic Urticaria

Urticaria (Hives) is red, itchy welts that result from a skin reaction. It is often caused by an allergic reaction to a food or drug. The condition is called chronic urticaria if the welts appear for more than six weeks or reoccur frequently over months or years. Signs and symptoms include batches of red or skin coloured welts appear anywhere on the body, severe itching, painful swelling of the lips, eyelids and inside the throat; signs and symptoms gets triggered up with heat, exercise and stress etc. Urticaria arises when certain cells release histamine and other chemicals into the blood stream.
